What are Foreign Investing Services?
Foreign Investing Services (FIS) is a service that enables investors to trade shares listed on selected overseas exchanges through a single trading account.
Which foreign markets are available for trading?
You may trade shares listed on up to 13 foreign exchanges, namely Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKSE), Singapore Exchange (SGX), National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations (NASDAQ), New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), London Stock Exchange (LSE), Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE), Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE), Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX), Korea Exchange (KRX) and Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE).
Where can I download the AmEquities app?
The AmEquities app is available on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store and Huawei AppGallery. Search for “AmEquities” and follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the app.
Who is eligible to open a Foreign Investing Services?
Individuals who meet the account opening requirements with active trading account with AmInvestment Bank are eligible to apply for FIS.
How do I open a Foreign Investing Services account?
New customer may apply by completing the online digital application form at www.amequities.my or email us at [email protected] for assistance. For existing client, you may contact your Dealer’s Representative or Remisier for further assistance.
Platform Access & Login
Do I need a separate login access to trade foreign markets?
No. A separate login is not required. AmEquities provides a Single Sign-On (SSO) experience, allowing you to access both local and foreign trading markets using the same login credentials. There is no need to maintain a separate account or login trade in foreign markets.
Can I trade through both the mobile app and web platform?
Yes. AmEquities is available through the following channels, providing you with convenient access to your trading account anytime, anywhere:
- Mobile App – Trade and monitor the markets on the go using your smartphone or tablet.
- Web Trading Platform – Access a full-featured trading experience directly through your web browser.
I noticed some of my foreign shares are not being transferred to GTN/FIS. Why?
Certain foreign shares cannot be transferred to the GTN platform or migrated to the new FIS platform because they are no longer eligible for trading. This may include shares that have been:
- Delisted from their respective stock exchanges;
- Suspended from trading for an extended period; or
- Otherwise deemed ineligible for transfer by the custodian or platform provider.
- As a result, these securities will remain outside the GTN/FIS migration process and will not appear in your new FIS account.
Alternatively, you may check the said shares with our helpdesk at [email protected] or call our Helpdesk at 03-20310102 from Monday to Friday, between 8.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m. (excluding Public Holidays).
What should I do if I forget my password?
You may use the "Forgot Password" function on the login page and follow the on-screen instructions to reset a new password. If you require further assistance, please contact our Helpdesk at [email protected] or call 03-2031 0102, available Monday to Friday, 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. (excluding public holidays).
Markets & Trading Feature
What currencies can I trade in?
Trade is conducted in the local currency of the respective market. For example, trades in the U.S. market are settled in USD, while trades in the Singapore market are settled in SGD. The applicable trading currency will depend on the market in which you place your order.
If the foreign exchange is closed for holiday and I submit an order, will my order be rejected?
No. Orders submitted during a foreign exchange holiday will be processed for submission on the next trading day. You may check the status of your orders under the “Order List” tab
Are there any restrictions on transactions involving certain foreign securities?
Yes. Transactions involving securities linked to Israel may be subject to regulatory and internal restrictions. This includes shares issued by Israeli-incorporated companies, their direct subsidiaries, securities with ISINs starting with "IL", and ETFs that provide direct exposure to Israeli companies.
Are there situations where a securities transaction may be restricted or rejected?
Yes. The Bank and/or Custodian may restrict, suspend, or reject securities transactions that are subject to regulatory requirements or internal policies, including securities linked to restricted jurisdictions including from Israeli, restricted currencies, or specified persons.
Can I submit Good-till-Date (GTD) orders for FIS trading?
The GTD order function is currently not available for FIS trading until further notice.
How can I place trade if the FIS online trading system is unavailable?
In the event that the FIS online trading system is temporarily unavailable, you may place your orders through your Dealer's Representative (DR) or Remisier via telephone. Our team will assist you in executing your trades to ensure minimal disruption to your trading activities.
Markets Data Subscription
Are foreign share prices displayed in real time?
By default, foreign market data is provided on a delayed basis. The actual delay varies depending on the respective exchange but is typically between 15 and 20 minutes. The delay duration is subject to the policies and data distribution rules of each exchange.
Can I subscribe to Real-Time Market Data?
Yes. Real-Time Market Data subscriptions are available for selected foreign exchanges. Once subscribed, you will receive live market data for the supported exchanges, allowing you to make trading decisions based on up-to-date market information.
Is there a fee for Real-Time Market Data?
Yes. Real-Time Market Data is a chargeable monthly subscription service. The subscription fee is charged based on the calendar month, regardless of the date of subscription. For example, if you subscribe on 27 July 2026, the full subscription fee for July 2026 will still apply. Please note that subscription availability, fees and eligible exchanges may vary depending on the market and exchange requirements.
Will my Real-Time Market Data subscription be renewed automatically once I have subscribed?
Yes. Your Real-Time Market Data subscription will be automatically renewed on a monthly basis, and the applicable subscription fee will be charged on the 1st day of each month.
What happens if I cancel my Real-Time Market Data subscription?
The subscription will be cancelled
Funding, Settlement & Currency
How can I check the settlement amount after trading in foreign securities?
You will receive a contract statement detailing the settlement amount in the currency of the traded security, together with its equivalent value in Ringgit Malaysia (RM). Alternatively, you may contact your Remisier or Dealer’s Representative for assistance in confirming the settlement amount. If you have not signed the Foreign Currency Settlement Standing Instruction, settlement of the transaction must be made in Ringgit Malaysia (RM).
Is foreign currency conversion available?
Yes. Currency conversion services are available.
How do I transfer funds to the AMIB Foreign Currency Account?
You may arrange with your bank as follows:
- Convert the Ringgit in your Current/Saving Account and transfer to the foreign currency to AmInvestment Bank Foreign Currency Account (AMIB FCA)
- Transfer the foreign currency from your own Foreign Currency Account (FCA) to AMIB FCA
- Convert from your trust money (in Ringgit) with us to the AMIB FCA. AmBank’s prevailing FX rate will be used for the conversion.
- Please notify your Remisier/Dealer of the fund transfer made by you by submitting the Confirmation of Foreign Currency Remittance Form together with a copy of the bank’s remittance slip. This is to facilitate the identification and crediting of the foreign currency receipt to the correct client.
Are there any charges for withdrawing my foreign currency trust money?
Yes. Withdrawal transactions are subject to bank remittance charges. The charges vary depending on the type of foreign currency and the client’s receiving bank account.
When can I expect to receive my money if I submit my withdrawal request for FC today?
The processing time for withdrawal requests depends on the currency and market involved:
- For major currencies and markets (e.g. USD, HKD, SGD), funds are typically credited within T+2 business days.
- For selected foreign currencies and markets (e.g. JPY, CNY, EUR), funds are typically credited within T+4 business days.
- The actual crediting timeline may vary depending on the settlement cycle, banking processing times, and public holidays in the respective markets.
Fees and Charges
What are the applicable trading fees?
Applicable charges may include the following:
• Brokerage fee
• Exchange fee
• Regulatory fee
• Currency conversion fee, if applicable

Is there a minimum trade size?
Minimum trade sizes are subject to the requirements of the respective foreign exchange or market.

How can I monitor my foreign investments?
You may monitor your investments through the AmEquities platform. Please refer to the user guide available on the website at www.amequities.my for further details.
Are there any promotional brokerage rates?
Promotional brokerage rates may be offered from time to time. Please visit AmEquities website at www.amequities.my for the latest promotions.
Can I earn reward points from foreign share trading?
Yes. Eligible trades may earn 2x AmEquities Reward Points for each trade.
How do I check my reward points balance?
You may view your reward points balance through the AmEquities platform.
Foreign Exchange Policy Notice (FEPN)
What is the Foreign Exchange Policy Notice (FEPN)?
The Foreign Exchange Policy Notice (FEPN) refers to the foreign exchange policy requirements issued by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) governing transactions involving foreign currency assets, including investments in foreign-listed securities. Clients investing through the Foreign Investment Services (FIS) platform are required to comply with the applicable FEPN requirements.
Why am I required to complete the FEPN Declaration?
The FEPN Declaration is required to ensure compliance with Bank Negara Malaysia's Foreign Exchange Policy requirements. The declaration enables AmInvestment Bank to determine whether clients meet the applicable regulatory requirements for investing in foreign currency assets.
Why am I required to complete the FEPN Declaration?
All clients intending to invest in foreign-listed securities through the FIS platform may be required to complete the FEPN Declaration and provide any supporting information or documents requested by AmInvestment Bank.
Will the FEPN Declaration affect my ability to invest in foreign securities?
The FEPN Declaration itself does not prevent clients from investing in foreign securities. However, clients are responsible for ensuring that their investments comply with the prevailing Foreign Exchange Policy requirements issued by Bank Negara Malaysia.
What Happens If My Online Trading Account Is Suspended?
As part of our security measures, your online trading account will be automatically suspended if there is no login activity for more than 60 days.
To reactivate your account, please follow the simple steps below:
- Contact our Helpdesk at +603-2031 0102 or email [email protected] and request your online trading account to be reactivated.
- Once your account has been reactivated, please log in using your existing password on the same day.
Important: To keep your account secure, you must log in on the same day your account is reactivated. Otherwise, your account will be automatically suspended again on the following day and you will need to contact our Helpdesk to request reactivation. To avoid any inconvenience, we recommend logging in to your online trading account regularly to keep it active. If you require any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our Helpdesk.
Click on "My Profile" to change your Password or PIN. You are advised to change your Password and PIN regularly for security reason.
What happens if I forget my Password or Trading PIN?
A new Password/PIN can be assigned to you. To retrieve the new Password/PIN :
- Click on "Forgot Password" button under My Profile menu.
- Key in User ID, Email Address and enter the unique code shown.
- The system will automatically generate a new Password, which will be sent to you via Email.
- You will be prompted to change Password once you have successfully login.
What are the circumstances where Bursa GTD order can be cancelled/withdrawn by AMIB or Bursa?
Bursa GTD orders will be cancelled/withdrawn and automatically eliminated from Bursa order book and AmEquities trading system starting from 6.00 am if they did not pass AMIB’s risk filter checks and/or they hit Bursa’s withdrawal criteria. These checks are performed daily and include the following: AMIB Risk Filter Checks:
- Insufficient trading limits (client or remisier/dealer)
- Insufficient stock balance
- Suspended trading or account status
- Dormant or closed CDS account status
Bursa’s Withdrawal Criteria
- Securities going through corporate exercise/action, regardless of price adjustment (at the end of trading day before the ex-date)
- Designated securities
- Prices of orders falls outside the Static Price Limits
- Delisted or matured securities
- Securities suspended for one session or more
- Trading suspension due to Bursa Circuit Breaker Halt Level 3
- Securities marked from ready to immediate basis
What is Cash Withdrawal Form?
Cash Withdrawal is for you to authorise AmInvestment Bank Berhad to withdraw cash from your Trust/AmCash Management Account and issue/remit the payment to your name and account.
Is AmEquities accessible from overseas?
Yes. As long as there is Internet coverage, AmEquities is accessible from anywhere in the world.
When can I place my online orders?
You can place your online orders anytime, but the system will only submit your orders to Bursa Malaysia from 9.00 am to 12.30 pm (local time) during morning session and from 2.30 pm to 5.00 pm during the afternoon session. Orders received by AmEquities after 5pm will be submitted to Bursa Malaysia on the next trading day. Kindly check your order status and cancel if you do not wish to proceed.
Are the interest rates and charges subject to change and how will I be notified?
Yes, the interest/profit rate and administration fees are subject to change from time to time and will be notified to client via periodic statements/statement of accounts and/or the Bank’s website at www.amequities.my/home/rates-fees-charges
How do I know whether my unmatched Bursa GTD order is successfully carried forward?
Eligible carried forward Bursa GTD orders’ status will be disseminated to participating organization before the start of every trading day. These orders will be restated and displayed as “Queued” in AmEquities trading system’s order book throughout the validity period but the status will change if they are matched, modified/revised, cancelled, withdrawn or expired. Thus, you are strongly advised to check your Bursa GTD order status regularly in AmEquities trading system from 8.30 am onward
How do I check if my Bursa GTD order is cancelled/withdrawn by AMIB or Bursa?
You may check your Bursa GTD order status in AmEquities trading system (click on Order Book > Order Status) on daily basis at any time from 8.30 am onwards after the risk filter and withdrawal criteria checking have been performed and auto cancellation of relevant Bursa GTD orders has completed. For cancelled or withdrawn Bursa GTD orders, you may view the reason for the cancellation or withdrawal in the Order Book Order Log.
What is the LEAP Market?
A new market offered by Bursa Malaysia which will provide companies, mainly SMEs, with greater fund raising access and visibility via the capital market; and will be accessible only to Sophisticated Investors.*
The LEAP Market aims to bring together SMEs and companies, intermediaries, Sophisticated Investors and Advisers onto a single platform to create a conducive marketplace to raise funds, a marketplace that provides for efficient and transparent capital formation and price discovery mechanisms compared to a private market.
